Hopefully everyone's 2010 is off to a good start! We have made a few minor changes lately after taking some suggestions from users. All of our server names are now in the format 'City.AA.BB.DarkNET.Org'; where AA is the State/Province abbreviation and BB is the County abbreviation for the server location. This should stop any confusion with the previous more random server names we were using before.
We have also finished up tweaking some of the new configuration settings available to us from our past IRCd upgrade. Users should notice quicker connect times to the network and less annoyances from various checks and notices.
The qwebirc web based chat panel has been updated to the newest release available. Some settings were also tweaked to reduce the amount of javascript usage and slow loading time a few people were experiencing. The tweaks also took some of the heavy load off the server the web chat is hosted on during higher usage times.
Sometime in the next couple months, we will be moving our US servers to a new single US location. More information on this will come when the time arrives. |

The Nefarious IRCd software which we use has been upgraded across the network to the latest version, u2.10.11.07+Nefarious(1.3.0)+[2744 2009-12-16]. This is a pretty big upgrade as a few servers were using very old versions which did not mix very well with some of the servers which were using newer versions. There are many fixes to glitches and bugs which were present before, as well many new features. This upgrade should continue to bring the reliability and performance with some of the extra bonus features that you would expect from Nefarious IRCd. If you encounter any problems (doubtful) or have any questions, please let us know.

We have finally got the development of our new website to a point where it can be made public. There are still many changes and improvements to be made and much content left to be added. The new site should technically still be considered 'beta', though anything at this point is really better than our old website (or lack there of). Remember we are always open to suggestions, comments, insults and contributions! |

DarkNET has now merged with the ExileNET IRC Network! It only makes sense that two separate networks with the same belief in policy and structure come together, continuing with the overall goal to make an enjoyable experience for our users. The merger will bring together the users and channels from both networks. We believe that this merger is the best choice for the long term success of both communities. |
